In celebration of Disney's Centenary which falls this year, I designed this FREE knitting pattern, the Minnie Beanie to mark the occasion.
Inspired by the style icon that is Minnie Mouse, my beanie is a quick and simple knit that would be perfect for beginners and experts alike.
The Minnie Beanie is knit in an Aran weight wool {I used approximatley 50g!} on needles and then sewn up. You can adorn with 2 large faux fur pompoms or make your own.
I knitted mine in black with black pompoms to suggest the ears and character of Minnie Mouse who made her first appearance as Mickey's paramour in 1928, making her a true vintage flapper gal.
You can use any colours you like however and I thought it would be nice to match the ribbed cuff to the pompoms and knit the crown in a contrast colour. And I feel the need for one in dusky pink much like the colour on my Mickey & Minnie Tee.
You can download your FREE Minnie Beanie pattern here ~
If you prefer a single pompom then that's fine too or leave the pompom off entirely! For such a simple pattern, there are so many options and ways you can make this pattern yours. And it's a great gift knit, either as a finished item or put together as a kit for the knitters in your life.
I really love a quick knitting project especially when you have a few big projects on the go and I'm in love with my Minnie Beanie! I hope you enjoy it too!
Happy Stitching,
Tara x
