What is Tara Deighton Atelier's Dressmaking and Fashion Patreon Membership all about?

You may notice a few changes over on Patreon! A new year {my 5th on this wonderful platform!} means a new theme so I wanted to share my thoughts behind Atelier and what it's all about.

I should probably take a moment to explain what Patreon is, in case you're unfamiliar!

In essence, it's a subscription based platform where creators put up exclusive content for their paid membership. Just like all the other streaming services you use!

I make videos about pattern cutting and sewing and my creative life in general. and if you like what I do on YouTube and in my real life classes, then you'll enjoy my Patreon. I think of it as my online school and my paid members are my lovely students.

For the longest time, I've felt the need to simplify my life {something, I'm sure, many of us feel!} and where Tara Deighton Atelier is concerned, a LOT of plate spinning goes on. YouTube, Patreon, sewing & knitting patterns, regular workshops and evening classes here in Hastings, plus all the social media, accounts, filming, photography, editing, general business admin ~ and that's without sewing or knitting a single thing to make content about! And it's ALL JUST ME!

I thought there must be a way to streamline, to make it easier and more enjoyable for myself? Create a better experience for my members/subscribers?

I asked myself the BIG question ~ What is my Secret Sauce? And the answer {and the way I move forward with everything} is ATELIER!

So, here are each Tier membership options and what you get with each of them. Personally, I think they're such good value for money and, as a member of other creators memberships, I get so much from my nominal subscription fee each month!

Tier 1 is Apprentice and members on this tier, follow my adventures in Fashion History & Culture. I'll be sharing a monthly Podcast and there's full access to the EXTENSIVE Tea With Tara archive.

Tier 2 members or subscribers get all the perks of Tier 1, and a monthly tutorial. This is going to be livestreamed and then available to watch at any time, just in case you can't make the livestream date.

I'll have prepped resources you can use and there will be opportunities to ask me questions! As near to being in a real classroom with me as possible which I'm excited about!

Tier 3 members get all the benefits of Tier 1 & 2 PLUS Behind The Seams ~ exclusive access to my creative life and The Wardrobe Diaries where I'll be sharing a style adventure with you!

Plus there will be plenty of sneak peeks and lots of opportunity to chat with me and fellow Atelier members!

What I really wanted was to create an opportunity for interaction, to get the energy and excitement going and to use my 30 year experience both in the classroom and in the fashion industry in a way that is actually really useful and inspiring for my members. I'm so grateful for the support and I wouldn't be able to do any of the things I do without them!

I'm looking forward to launching my Podcast Whispered Threads and sharing my stories sewn through time with you. It's really Tea With Tara updated and better! I've set up the socials for it but the Patreon feed will be the place to go if you want to see what's happening! {Instagram}. My first episode is my own Story Sewn Through Time coming later this month.

Editing videos takes HOURS! And sometimes it all gets a bit much and in the time it takes you can sometimes lose that spark of magic, that energy and excitement. So, I'm going to be much more ad hoc about Behind The Seams, relaxed and have fun more fun. A couple of things on the way though to give you an idea ~ My Jeans Project, recreating looks from the catwalk, Schiaparelli, sharing my archive of resources, exhibition visits and much, much more! I can already feel the energy sparking!

The Wardrobe Diaries is a new project for Year 5 on Patreon and I'm so excited about it! As I say, it's all very well making lovely things but sometimes it's hard to know what to do with them. And then they languish in the back of the wardrobe, looking all forlorn and shouting guilt at you every time you notice them.

We also live in a youth centric world that demands women, especially older women take up less space. I'm going to be 52 at my next birthday and I REFUSE to minimise or smallen myself to conform! I'm entering my Baba Yaga era and I want to have fun with my style. Join me on that journey with my Wardrobe Diaries! It's going to be SO MUCH FUN!
