I have ALWAYS loved dressing up and started sewing at the age of 6 when my Great Aunt let me use her very ancient Singer sewing machine! It was love at first stitch and I've been sewing ever since! A chance encounter with a fashion history book in my local library and an obsession with Silver Screen starlets ignited my passion for vintage style and it endures to this day.
My sewing adventures have taken me to fashion school, teacher training, class rooms for young and old alike, pattern cutting and sampling for well known brands and designers, costume production for film, television and stage and most recently, sustainably made bespoke Bridal Couture.
I now run Tara's School of Dressmaking on Patreon and share my sewing adventures over on my YouTube channel, in my Journal and on Instagram. I also teach sewing, pattern cutting and dressmaking classes at various venues around the country to fellow sewing enthusiasts.
As passionate as I am about making clothes, I have become ever more passionate about communicating my enduring love for sewing with others. so I now have my own ever growing range of Knitting & Dressmaking guides, patterns and resources all aiming to help fellow seamstresses make and create their own unique homemade wardrobe.
I live in a little cottage by the sea on the South Coast of England with my lucky black cat Loki and I spend my days sewing, knitting and drinking Earl Grey tea.
