Spend the day learning how to create your own beautiful handmade sunhat using traditional hat making techniques.
In this one-day workshop, you will learn how to work with a sunhat pattern, cut your fabrics, create structure and shape, and finish your hat with a beautifully lined interior.
 
You will have a choice of two sunhat patterns designed for the workshop, available in three sizes. I will guide you through each stage of the process, from preparing your materials to completing your own unique summer accessory.
 
This workshop is perfect for anyone who loves making their own clothes and wants to explore the world of traditional millinery and slow, thoughtful craftsmanship.
 
In this workshop you will learn:
 
~How a traditional sunhat is constructed
~How to work with a hat pattern and understand its pieces
~Fabric preparation and accurate cutting techniques
~Creating structure and shaping your hat
~ Traditional finishing techniques
~How to create a beautifully lined hat
 
You will need to bring:
 
Your chosen outer fabric and lining plus matching thread
Basic sewing kit including sharp fabric scissors & Tape measure
Sewing machine
