Skills Used

  • Gathering fabric
  • Inserting elastic
  • Basic pattern drafting

And bonus ~ Making your Calypso is an easy way to learn to self draft your own patterns

Fabric Requirements & Recommendations

For a Calypso Skirt, you will need approximately 2 metres of fabric. If using a narrower width, allow for more fabric.

Approximately 1 metre of  2.5 cms wide elastic or enough to fit around your waist.

Calypso works beautifully in light to medium weight woven fabrics that have little to some drape. Think cotton lawns, voiles and poplins for a soft yet crisp look. Linens and linen blends also work perfectly for Calypso.
