Even though the sun is shining brightly over my studio in Hastings Old Town, the temperature is hitting around 2 degrees and I'm longing for long sultry Summer days and the romance of rustic weddings in the beautiful East Sussex countryside. With this in mind I'm looking back to one of my lovely brides from last Summer; Zoya who got married at The Pilgrim's Rest in Battle.
Zoya wanted a simple and comfortable dress that had beautiful details. We chose the Iris dress as the starting point, which is a classic fit and flare style based on Dior's New Look from 1947. Zoya is interested in vintage and organises swing events locally and wanted her dress to reflect who she was. We chose to use soft and fluid fabrics and I found the vintage lace at a local antiques dealer. The dress was hand finished with an out of this world gorgeous embellished belt and handmade covered buttons.
My number 1 golden rule for a wedding dress: You should be able to eat all the delicious food, dance all night, go to the loo solo (!) and give your new hubby/wife a really fabulous smooch whenever the fancy takes you!
I absolutely loved making Zoya's dress and she was a real dream to work with- My only regret is that we can't do it all again!
I'm so thrilled to be able to share these beautiful images taken by Georgina Piper from Zoya and Damian's magical day and I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!
