Couture Inspiration for the Modern Bride

One of my absolute loves and main inspirations is couture in all is embellished glory. I very rarely look at the wedding world to gain inspiration as I personally feel that such a special occasion shouldn't be trend driven, but I do look to the catwalk, especially when Dior or Valentino are showing.

Here is a little snippet of what I instantly fell in love with at the Spring/Summer 2018 Couture shows in Paris recently.

Silk Georgettes and chiffons with plenty of ruffles appeared throughout the collection. I especially love this black ruffle dress that could almost be a wrap dress ( one of my favourite styles as it is so easy to wear). Imagine it in white, ivory or a glorious champagne silk! This collection was also about huge bows in contrasting colours- perfect for bridesmaids or a bow obsessed bride.

Bows are perfectly acceptable at weddings- just not made from synthetic organza, swathed around chairs! Is it just me, or does this always look wrong?

I'm OBSESSED with this ghostly cape- voluminous silk tulle, showing a tiny glimpse of what's underneath! The mix of nude with lilac is gorgeous.

Chanel never fails to take my breath away with the sheer luxuriance of their collections! The fabrics and craftsmanship and total over the top aesthetic, that still remains light as air is always brilliant.

I love the embellished tulle with silver sparkles above and how stunning are the little flowered veils? LOVE them!

This look is so modern, although there is a bit of a early 60's feel to the collection- a nod to Balenciaga perhaps? I thought the short dress with layered tulle over the top was a fantastic idea and looks amazing with the embellished ankle boots! This is my idea of a very modern bride!

How gorgeous are this little sparkly ankle boots! And again with the bows- this time in contrasting shocking pink. Lovely!

Dior has quickly become my favourite of the Luxury designer houses and I think this is down to the appointment of Maria Grazia Chiuri as creative director. She is simply amazing and never fails to inspire me. Bead embellishment doesn't have to be boring- how amazing are these linear beaded silks and caged corsetry? Elegant yet edgy.

Beautiful lace with tulle overskirts- lace doesn't have to be all flowers and frou frou! I'm totally into more directional laces and embellishments which are still refined and elegant.

Simple, sleek silhouettes with the most beautiful all over embellishment. I like the strong makeup of this look! It contrasts with the delicacy of the dress.

I'm very into skirts and separates as a bridal option and how brilliant is this tailoring inspired bustier!? Imagine arriving at the church/venue/field wearing this with a beautifully fitted jacket over the top! Also loving the 'face fascinators'!

You really can't go wrong with a cape, in my opinion, especially when it's COVERED in feathers and beads! Outstandingly wonderful in every way!

There is so much here that is going to inspire me- I hope it's given you a little inspiration too!
