The Sea Siren

The song of the Siren, hauntingly beautiful and luring the unsuspecting sailor onto the rocks and to their doom. What better way to celebrate the magic of All Hallows Eve, than with a styled shoot inspired by these mythical creatures?
Inspired by the magical and romantic beauty of Pre-Raphaelite art, particularly works by Waterhouse,, and also by the feel and colours of the local wild beach Rock a Nore, our early morning shoot produced some of my favourite ever images! I hope you enjoy them too!

'The Mermaid' 1901- John William Waterhouse

Miranda and the Tempest 1916 John William Waterhouse

One VERY windy morning in October at Rock a Nore, our beautiful Sea Siren, Anna, braving the tempest.

This sequin cape, inspired by the designs of Paul Poiret, who was designing at the same time Waterhouse was painting, made me think of mermaid scales and the colours of stormy seas.

"Like a Mermaid in sea-weed,
she dreams awake,
trembling in her soft and chilly nest"

Anna wears the 'Anna' dress, inspired by and named for her. She's such a beautiful soul.

This shoot was such a joy and the work of everyone who took part is stunningly beautiful!
