Red- How to wear the colour of the season
I'm in the process of designing a bespoke wedding dress in red, which is perfectly timed, as red is the colour of the season! I thought I'd share some of my inspiration and also some of the red dresses I've designed in the past!
These images of Anna in red wedding dresses, shot by Georgina Piper Photographer, were taken at St Benedicts, a beautiful bed & breakfast based in St Leonards. Incidentally, they are all set up for weddings! For more on this shoot, look here!
The Violet dress in the most sumptuous heavy crepe- the light shimmers so beautifully off of this fabric and the weight makes the dress fall beautifully over the body. Incredibly flattering for a multitude of body types.
The beautiful headpiece is by Madrugar Millinery and looks so stunning against the backdrop of the fireplace in the Drawing room.
Anna wearing a red full length Lana dress in front of the organ in the tv room at St Benedicts Bed & Breakfast!
Selvedge magazine is one of my favourite sources of inspiration and I love this issues cover. I bought the silk panne velvet behind to make a Malmaison cape in red. I want to make the same style roses as the vintage ones on my moodboard.
The images on my moodboard are all sourced from my Pinterest boards and from Harpers Bazaar magazine (another fave source of inspiration!). The sleeves on the red Schiaparelli velvet evening coat are just heavenly!
A top tip for wearing one colour from head to toe is to vary the texture. That way, you add in contrast and interest and don't end up looking flat!
Beautiful close up details- I love the Valentino embellishments. Did you know, they have their very own shade of red called Valentino red?
Red is the colour of love so what better colour to wear for your special day? I'm so pleased that brides can express them selves now with many choices that are personal to them. And although I do love working in all the many tones and textures of Ivory and white, sometimes it's lovely to make something so vibrant and rich!
I hope you've seen a little here to inspire you today and I'd love to hear your thoughts on red wedding dresses!
